Are you a can-do person?  Do you work well in a team?  Can you think outside the box?  Volunteering with your local branch or group provides an opportunity for you to make a difference to local people living with MND.  However, volunteering is not just about benefiting others, you can benefit too!

 

  • MND is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord
  • It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles refuse to work. Sensory nerves are not usually affected
  • It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breath
  • It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis
  • It has no cure.

 

The MND Association was founded in 1979. Our mission is to improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers. We also fund and promote research that leads to

Role Description

Our branches and groups are run by volunteers who work together to fundraise, provide support, influence and raise awareness at a local level.  Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks such as:

  • Creating posters and leaflets
  • Distributing posters and leaflets
  • Making tea and coffee at events
  • Helping out on a stall at fundraising and recruitment events
  • Helping with street collections
  • Organising fundraising events
  • Recruiting volunteers
  • Encouraging local companies to fundraise on our behalf

And so much more!!!!

 

Essential Skills

You don't need a wealth of experience or vast quantities of time.  We welcome anyone who is over 18 and interested in helping out - all we ask is willingness to make a difference.

Ideal Skills

This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and get involved with your local community and find out more about how charities such as the MND Association operate

This role is flexible and you can give as time much as you want and are able to give

Full training and induction will be provided and travel expenses will be reimbursed
