Branch Chair (Volunteer) Mid Sussex

West Sussex North branch is volunteer led, offering support to local people with MND & those affected by MND, raising vital funds & awareness of this awful disease. We are looking for a Branch Chair to be responsible for the different activities being undertaken by Branch volunteers, and to give a sense of continuity to our local work. The branch covers a large area of Mid Sussex from Horsham, burgess hill, Crawley and surrounding areas.

The MND Association was founded in 1979. Our mission is to improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers. We also fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND. The Association also campaigns and raises awareness so the needs of people with MND, and everyone who cares for them, are recognised, and addressed by wider society.

What’s involved?

Plan, prepare for and facilitate committee meetings
Ensure appropriate decisions are made in a timely way when required
Support branch volunteers in planning and coordinating branch activities
Ensure branch volunteers are aware of and follow the Association’s policies and procedures
Work in partnership with staff to recruit new volunteers and induct and mentor new volunteers
Act as an ambassador for the Association and as a host at branch events

This role will suit me if I:

Have leadership skills, facilitation skills and experience of running meetings
Have good communication and interpersonal skills
Am able to act in an impartial way
Am able to delegate work

How flexible is the role?

The Branch Chair will usually work for approximately 2-3 hours a week and facilitate on average 4 meetings a year.

What sort of training/induction will I receive before starting?

You’ll be inducted into the role and informed about the Association. As part of this, you will receive e-learning, face-to-face training and mentoring. The training programme will also include experiential and reflective learning.
